Scouting could not exist without a large number of adult leaders, virtually all of whom give their time and energy on a purely voluntary basis. There are only a few full-time paid staff at national headquarters and only two in Leicestershire Scouting. Paid staff fill vital administrative roles while all those actively involved in the leadership of young people, at whatever level, are volunteers. |

Our adult leaders come from all walks of life: electricians, printers, Queen's Counsel, drivers, shopkeepers, university professors...you name a trade or profession and somewhere there's an adult Scouter represented, not forgetting those who have had to face redundancy yet still give their all to Scouting. |

If you employ or are considering employing an adult who is involved in Scouting, you can count on that individual holding the values which lie at the core of Scouting, especially honesty, resourcefulness, self-reliance and awareness of the needs of others. |

In addition, you can be assured of leadership qualities, as each adult appointment carries a duty to attend structured training courses in leadership and other skills relevant to the particular appointment. The adult Scouter training programme has received many industry awards for quality and the skills acquired are easily adapted to non-Scouting environments. |
